Dairy Free Dietary Options

The Ultimate guide to Dairy Free Coffee Creamers

Whether you’re lactose intolerant, have an allergy, or you’re vegan, there are plenty of reasons to ditch dairy. But one habit that can be hard to break is stopping that splash of milk or creamer in your morning coffee.

Many of my patients exclude dairy from their diet, but still can’t find an adequate substitute for their coffee creamer. Even if a product says it is  lactose-free and “non-dairy” it may not be not completely free of animal products if it contains “sodium caseinate”, which is a protein derived from cow’s milk. Luckily, there are plenty of store-bought dairy-free creamer options out there that are delicious, and plant based. Here are some non-dairy creamers to stock up on for your morning coffee or tea ritual.

  1. Milkadamia latte 2-pack. Made from raw, not roasted macadamia nuts. Per 8 oz serving: Contains 70 calories, 8g carbs, 7 g sugar, 30% daily value of calcium. So in your coffee, if you used 2 oz, that translates to 2g carb.

2. Nutpods is a rich, smooth creamer made from almonds & coconuts. They are perfect for those who follow Whole 30, keto, paleo, plant-based (vegan), vegetarian, lactose-free, and/or diabetic diets. Nut pods dairy-free creamer is an excellent substitute for regular coffee creamer, as it does not contain any dairy or sugar.Available in many flavors: check these out 3 pack plain, vanilla, hazelnut, and Nutpods 3 pack Cinnamon Swirl, Classic Chocolate, and New Toasted Marshmallow

3. Hemp creamer has 350 mg of Omega 3 per serving (2 tbsp). Hemp seeds are a good source of Omega-3 ALA fatty acids. This product contains no fillers, added oils or gums. Non-GMO, Vegan & Kosher.  Each serving of 2 tbsp Contains 30 calories, 2g carbs, 1g added sugar

4. Almond creamers are very popular. The one made by Califia is Soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, carrageenan-free, non-GMO, kosher, and vegan, and offers Hazelnut and Pecan Caramel varieties. Silk makes a vanilla almond creamer. Natural Bliss also has an almond creamer with flavors like Caramel Toffee and Vanilla
